Behind the Dogs

Shayna is the breeder behind du Feu des Étoiles and her journey with dogs began in 2009 through hands on work in breed specific rescue, primarily with Australian Cattle Dogs. Those early years gave her a deep appreciation for the breed and a strong understanding of temperament, structure, and the importance of thoughtful breeding.

After attending an AKC dog show, everything started to click. Seeing well bred dogs in person and comparing them to what she had been working with in rescue sparked a new level of curiosity and purpose. That experience led to months of research, conversations with dedicated breeders, and eventually bringing home her first well bred Australian Cattle Dog.

While that first dog was never shown, she became an exceptional ranch partner and has spent the last nine years proving herself where it truly matters. She also produced a few incredible litters, with her offspring going on to earn titles in performance sports, succeed in conformation, and thrive as working dogs in their own homes. Over the years, Burnbright ACDs has placed dogs across the United States, from Alaska to Florida, and even internationally, with puppies now living in Germany.

In 2020, Shayna was introduced to the Beauceron, a breed that brought something different to the table. Their temperament, presence, and versatility fit naturally with the direction her program and lifestyle were heading. Living close to the ABC (American Beauceron Club) Region 4 Specialty gave her the opportunity to meet a wide range of Beaucerons and connect with passionate breeders.

In 2022, she found her dream puppy at that very specialty, bred by the late Carol Cosey and Joanna Law. That moment marked the beginning of du Feu des Étoiles and an exciting new chapter.

Since then, the program has continued to grow and evolve, including splitting our time between our Oregon and California home to have better access herding training, trials, and conformation opportunities. Today, Shayna focuses on raising dogs that are not only beautiful and correct, but also capable, stable, and ready to be true partners in whatever job they are given, whether that is on the ranch, in the show ring, or at home with their people.

While Shayna is no longer breeding ACDs she still has several that are happily retired and living their best life herding and learning new sports like fastcat and dock diving!
